We can’t help but fall for long-haired, guitar-wielding artists from across the pond lately. First there was Irish singer Hozier and now we’re totally crushing on his recent tour mate, James Bay. If you don’t know who this British singer-songwriter is, prepare to add him to your playlist immediately.
His single Hold Back the River is a swelling rock anthem, one that would fit nicely alongside the recent catalogues of Mumford & Sons, George Ezra, Ed Sheeran, Vance Joy and, of course, Hozier. (He’s also perfected the art of covering other artists, just check out his covers of Rihanna and Haim!)
We caught up with the rising star at this year’s Osheaga to do a quickfire round of questions to get to know Bay a little better. Take a look below to see whether he prefers coffee or tea (hint: it’s a very British answer) and what his favourite swear word is!
For a more in-depth interview, our very own Gaby Henderson got to chat with Bay about everything, from making his debut album Chaos and the Calm to his amazing sense of style.
